Introduction to Airsoft Guns and Accessories July 22, 2006
Posted by admin in : Airsoft Guns Articles , add a commentWe’ve all seen Airsoft guns in large retails stores, paintball pro-shops, and online, but many consumers still arent sure what they are. Airsoft guns are basically replicas of civilian and military pistols and rifles that shoot abs plastic, paintball, and metallic 6mm BBs for training, paintball style type games, or plinking. Airsoft guns were given their name due to the fact that the pistols and rifle shoot at low velocities or “shoot air softer”, compared to traditional bb and pellet guns. Airsoft guns have been mass distributed and sold to the general public in the United States since 1987. The design for most current Airsoft Pistols and rifles was perfected in Japan. Airsoft guns are required to have orange barrels or markings due to federal and state laws. The orange markings are meant to prevent confusion between an Airsoft gun and a real firearm. Due to federal law and safety reasons, the orange barrel or markings should never be removed from any Airsoft Pistol or rifle. SpeedyToys.com and most distributors’ policy towards the sales of Airsoft Pistols or rifles has always been that no one under the age of eighteen should be sold an Airsoft Pistol or rifle. This means that if a minor wishes to purchase an Airsoft gun, that an accompanied parent or legal guardian needs to purchase the Airsoft gun for the minor.

Types of Airsoft Guns
Posted by admin in : Airsoft Guns Articles , add a commentAirsoft guns are not real BB gun. Generally they are replicas (in appearance only) of real firearms, but occasionally also fictional firearms (e.g. the M41A Pulse Rifle from the Aliens films).
Airsoft guns are air or gas powered firearms that fire small spherical plastic pellets of either 6 mm or 8 mm diameter. They are used in the sport of Airsoft which is similar to Paintball.
There are three types of airsoft guns: spring, gas, and electric. All of them work on the same principal of gas pressure being built up in a piston that forces a traditional BB down the gun’s barrel. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages.
While the real BB gun shoots out a .177 metal BB, airsoft guns shoot out 6mm plastic BB. The BBS that an Airsoft gun shoots are slightly bigger and are not made of metal. The only thing that the two have in common is the fact that they resemble a real gun or weapon. Airsoft guns are also, unable to shoot full auto like machine guns.
